Spring Wedding Cake Inspiration for 2025
Although summer seems to be the season of choice for weddings, Spring can offer a totally different experience at a beautiful time of year.
The sun is a little lower making the light that bit more interesting - is there anything like a sunny Spring evening…? The air is clear and the trees and flowers are bursting forth.
It may be a while before summer flowers are abundant, but the Spring does have its own speciality – blossom.
Seasonal floral ideas
Early hawthorn, forsythia, plum, and of course the stunning cherry blossom. I have a little obsession with all things cherry blossom/Sakura season. The clouds of delicate flowers, from deep to the palest pinks just scream beauty, style and hope for the longer days to come. Cherry blossom can also feature in your wedding cake flavour, a delicate, sweet floral note that works well with raspberries or rhubarb to contrast.
Early spring delivers stunning tulips in any number of shapes and colours, and late spring delivers gorgeous fragrant lilacs in graduating tones or pure white fluffy dreaminess…
Elderflower blossom has starting appearing a little earlier, a fantastic cake flavour teamed with classic lemon or pink grapefruit, apple, soft fruits or herbs and even lemon grass. The creamy white clusters also look stunning adorning a semi naked or buttercream cake. Once the heat of summer arrives I would refrain from buttercream cakes, so Spring is the perfect time to indulge in a rustic wedding cake.
A spring wedding cake should be clean, elegant and light in design – contemporary sugar floral design with mono colours or a single style of flowers works beautifully. As with any luxury wedding cake, the finish should be impeccable…
